Day 1

Guide and vehicle for lunch

Free at leisure in the morning to relax at the hotel after long flights.

Lunch at your own expenses however our guide and vehicle are at disposal if you wish to eat at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, begin exploring the capital, including the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, where the remains of the national hero, the father of the nation rest (Closed on Monday and in the afternoons so just stand outside the mausoleum to have some photos taken if you wish, if you don’t want to visit this site, we can skip it).

Visit Tran Quoc Pagoda, regarded as the most ancient pagoda of the city built in the 6th century and a cultural symbol of Vietnamese.

The Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university. Then, enjoy a one-hour rickshaw tour of the capital and spend some time wandering in the old quarter and its antique shops. Then visit Ngoc Son Temple beautifully situated on Hoan Kiem Lake, and which is reached by a charming wooden bridge.

In the late afternoon, enjoy the water Puppet show to discover this Vietnamese ancestral art and witness a show composed of sketches representing the daily life and the beliefs of the rural environment. Duration: 1 hour.

Day 2

After breakfast, depart (with guide) Hanoi for Sa Pa by car (It takes around 5 hour drive without any stop).

On arrival at Sa Pa, check in at your hotel and free at leisure or our guide and vehicle are at disposal to show you around Sa Pa town if you prefer.

Overnight in Sa Pa, home to over 30 ethnic minorities and of the highest peak of Vietnam, Mount Fansipan (3,143 m).

Note: Sapa is a town of altitude, it is not uncommon to experience temperatures below 10 degrees during the winter (November to February); only few hotels offer in-room heating.

Day 3

After breakfast, depart in the early morning for a discovery of the minority villages located in the Sapa Valley.

First stop in Cat Cat village inhabited by a community of H’Mong. Then continue to get to Muong Hoa valley where you can take a walk from Lao Chai village (H’mong) through rice terrace to Ta Van village (4 km) to meet the Giay ethnic.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, continue the trekking toward the bamboo forest of Giang Ta Chai. This part of the trip is fascinating because of its picturesque sceneries and colourful ethnic minorities such as the Red Dao.

After a rest at the edge of a waterfall, climb a small hill before driving back to Hanoi.

On arrival at Hanoi in the evening, check in at your hotel and free at leisure.

Day 4

After breakfast at your hotel, travel (with guide) by road to the majestic Ha Long Bay, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Arrive at the boat pier near Hai Phong city by midday and board on a junk for a memorable cruise through the mystical Ha Long Bay.

In the afternoon, navigation between the karts, some of which display extraordinary shapes, if time and weather allow, stop for a swim in the jade-coloured waters of the Gulf of Tonkin.

The day concludes with a cooking demonstration and preparation of tasty spring rolls. At nightfall, fishing for squid is open, the opportunity to discover Vietnamese fishing techniques!

Day 5

After the breakfast, junk resumes its course. During the morning, it crosses the bay and stop to visit a natural cave.

Brunch will be served on board before returning on the coast around 11h30 and transfer by road directly to Hanoi airport for your flight to Hue.

On arrival at Hue airport, met by our guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in.

Day 6

After breakfast, visit the mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang and the tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, the 04th emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty of Vietnam, who reigned from 1847–1883. The buildings and gardens have been shaped according to the directives of geomancy (Feng Shui). Together, they form a huge park where the beauty nature is everywhere. Last stop at a family workshop to see how conical hats and incense sticks are made.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, visit the Imperial City, the former imperial seat of government. This is a great sprawling complex of temples, pavilions, moats, walls, gates, shops, museums and galleries, featuring art and costumes from various periods of Vietnamese history.

Then depart Hue for Da Nang via the Hai Van Pass or Hai Van tunnel then continue to the port town of Hoi An, recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

On arrival at Hoi An, check in at your hotel and free at leisure.

Day 7

Morning tour for 2  excluding Sarah & Richard.

In the morning, depart by bicycle toward a small typical village in the Vietnamese countryside just a few kilometres from Hoi An.

Upon arrival, visitors will discover the ancient gardening tradition of the village – their products are known throughout the region. The visit begins with an introduction to various agricultural activities with the farmers, and continues with the preparation of lunch with the host family.  This will be followed by a tasting of local specialties such as “banh xeo” (Vietnamese pancake), bringing together all the flavours of Tra Que.

After lunch, take a relaxing rest in the family’s house and then return by bicycle to Hoi An

Sarah arrives in this morning, private airport transfer (without guide) for her is included.

Afternoon tour for 4  including Sarah and Richard

In the afternoon, visit the famous Old Quarter of Hoi An. This is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Walk around Hoi An ancient town and explore its treasures. The buildings and street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site.

Then, visit a lantern making cottage and learn how to make one.

Day 8

Breakfast at your hotel.

 

Richard & Sarah check out and depart for Ba Na Hills – King Mountain.

Upon arrival, admire the height by the most modem cable car system in Southeast Asia then visit France wine cellar – Golden Bridge – Linh Ung Pagoda – see the panorama of Danang city.

Once the tour ends, transfer to Palm Garden resort for check-in and free at leisure for the rest of day.

Note: Tour includes English speaking guide, entrance fee & transfers MGallery Royal hotel-Ba Na-Palm Garden.

 

Harry & Janis, free at leisure until 13h30, check out and then transfer (without guide) to your beach hotel for check-in and free at leisure. Note: Rooms will be available from 14h00.

Day 9

Day 10

Free at leisure until transfer to Da Nang airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC or Saigon, still called by locals). 

On arrival at HCMC airport, met by our guide and transferred to the city center for lunch at a local restaurant then enjoy an orientation tour of the economic hub of Vietnam.

Visit the old colonial residential quarter, including the City Hall, built from 1902-1908 in a French colonial style, Opera House, built in 1897 by French Architect Eugene Ferret, the contemporary Reunification Palace (inside) and the elegant 19th century Notre-Dame Cathedral. 

Then, stroll around the Central Post Office built, neoclassical architectural style, built in the early 20th century by Eiffel.

Transfer to your hotel for check-in.

 

In the evening, enjoy the dinner cruise on board of the “Bonsai cruise” (Guide & transfers are included)

A sensational discovery of Ho Chi Minh City. The views and new perspectives of a modern city rich of turbulent history, as well as the savoury tasting of the Vietnamese dishes are all wrapped up at the end of a bustling day…

Day 11

Drive to Cai Be in the heart of the Mekong Delta.

On arrival, embark on a sampan boat for a cruise on the Mekong River and its myriad of canals to Vinh Long. Visit an old colonial house and a rice popcorn factory. 

Enjoy a tasting of local specialties for lunch, and then continue the journey to Can Tho, the largest town in the Mekong Delta.

Day 12

After an early breakfast, visit the vibrant Cai Rang floating market and witness the rural life and the beautiful vegetation along the riverbanks. This excursion to the arroyos leads visitors to a garden for a tasting of exotic fruits.

Then visit the Binh Thuy Ancient House, over 100 years old, and its peaceful surroundings. Observe the rural life, admire the lush vegetation along the riverbanks, and discover Can Tho’s colourful market before driving back to Ho Chi Minh City.

Enjoy a vegetarian lunch at Phuoc Long pagoda, located in the centre of the city of My Tho, this pagoda is famous for its collection of antiques and for the excellent vegetarian food prepared by the monks

In the afternoon, continue the journey to Ho Chi Minh City and stop to visit a Cao Dai Temple (or Vinh Trang pagoda if Tay Ninh is already included in the program).

Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City late in the afternoon, check in at your hotel and free at leisure.

In the evening, enjoy the modern circus and acrobatic show at the Opera House. (Guide & transfers are included)

The early evening is dedicated to an original show in the famous Opera House of Ho Chi Minh City. For almost an hour, various scenes retracing the typical Vietnamese lifestyle will be presented by a team of young artists, performing spectacular acrobatics!  Absolutely a high-quality show! Duration: 1 hour.

Day 13

Free at leisure until 16h00, pick up at your hotel and transfer (with guide) to HCMC Intl airport to take your flight home or next destination.
