Al Ain
Al ain is an oasis city in the United Arab Emirates resting just east of Abu Dabi, and is known as the ‘Garden City’ for its natural springs and plantations. The town is dotted with UNESCO World Heritage Sights such the Al Ain oasis, which houses sprawling, lush date plantations and a 3000-year-old irrigation system; and the 5000-year-old domed tombs in the Jebel Hafeet mountain. At the Al Ain Zoo, visitors see more than 250 African and Arabian animals at the world’s largest human-made safari, a landscape spanning 217-hectares. Other highlights include: the Al Ain Palace Museum, Sheikh Zayed's residence from 1937 to 1966; and the buzzing Al Ain Camel Market, where watching the haggling is almost as much fun as meeting the majestic creatures.
