Los Mochis
The idyllic coastal city of Los Mochis is situated in Mexico’s northern Sinaloa state. Spend a leisurely day strolling and picnicking at the Benjamin Francis Johnston Botanical Garden, where you can admire gorgeous butterflies and an impressive diversity of plants. The Memorial Hill lookout point provides breathtaking vistas over the town and ocean and is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise. People watch, dine and walk at the Plazuela 27 de Septiembre, reminiscent of Alameda Central, or discover Sinaloan history at the Valle del Fuerte Regional Museum. One of the primary drawcards, however, is one that involves leaving the city: board the El Chepe train, also known as the ‘Ferrocarril Chihuahua Pacifico’ towards Chihuahua, to see some astoundingly beautiful landscapes of the Copper Canyon on the way. Los Mochis also makes an ideal base from which travel towards Mazatlan.
