The town of Yamanouchi is situated in the Nagano Prefecture in Japan. A trip to Yamanouchi is not complete without visiting the Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park, where macaques escape the winter cold in steamy onsen – natural hot springs. After returning from the park explore Sahib Onsen street where there are around 35 onsen ryokans (hot spring hotels) and around nine hot spring bath-houses where you can enjoy the healing effects of the local thermal waters. Also visit Yudanaka Onsen, which has a more modern feel and many restaurants and bars where local delicacies are served. Shia Kogen is the largest ski area in Japan and combines 21 ski resorts with 71 lifts and 84 courses.
