Rugby Tour: British Columbia, Canada

Play a number of clubs around British Columbia, go whale-watching, head into the spectacular BC mountains, visit wild Vancouver Island & go skiing or mountain biking in world-famous Whistler

 

54.1

Day 1: Arrival at Vancouver Airport

Upon arrival at Vancouver Airport, you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to your accommodation in downtown Vancouver, where you will spend 1 night. The afternoon can be spent at leisure in Vancouver, where there is a huge variety of options for lunch. Dinner can be enjoyed at the hotel or in town.

Day 2: City tour & training

After breakfast, you will be picked up by coach and taken on a tour of the city, visiting Vancouver Aquarium in Stanley Park and continuing on through Stanley Park afterwards, stopping at Prospect Point for lunch and for photo opportunities. After lunch, you will travel to Connaught Park, via Burrard Bridge and Kitsilano waterfront, for a training session in the park. Afterwards, players will meet their hosts from Meralomas RFC, who they will be billeted with. Coaches and parents will be transferred to local hotel accommodation.

Day 3: Northshore Mountain & Game vs. Meralomas RFC

Players, staff and parents will meet at Connaught Park at 08.30, where they will board coaches departing to North Shore Mountains, where you will spend the morning visiting the mountains and lakes of the region, which are spectacular. After departing the mountains, you will head to Park Royal Centre, where you can have lunch do some shopping. You will then return to Connaught Park for an afternoon game against Meralomas RFC. Hospitality and refreshments will be provided at the club. Boys will then return to their host families and parents/coaches will return to their hotel.

Day 4: Granville Island & a Tour of Victoria, Vancouver Island

Staff, parents and players will meet in Connaught Park at 08.15 for an early departure to Granville Island, where they will do some sightseeing and shopping. In the late morning, the group witll then be transferred to Tsawwassen Ferry terminal, where they will catch a ferry at 13.00 to Swartz Bay, Vancouver Island. Upon arrival, you will board the waiting coaches, which will transfer you to Victoria, with sightseeing and a city tour en-route.

In the late afternoon, you will be transferred to Vancouver Island RFC to meet your hosts. Players will be billeted and coaches/parents will return to their hotel in Victoria.

Day 5: City tour & Game vs. Vancouver Island RFC

The group will converge on Vancouver Island RFC at 08.15 for a further tour of Victoria. You will visit The British Columbia Provincial Museum and Inner Harbour attractions. There will be a wide variety of choice for lunch at the Inner Harbour. After lunch, the group will return to Vancouver Island RFC and prepare for a game against Vancouver Island RFC in the afternoon. Refreshments and post-game hospitality will be provided at the club. Players will return to their hosts’ and coaches and parents will return to their hotel in Victoria.

 

 

54.6

Day 6: Whalewatching & transfer to North Vancouver

Players, parents and coaches will arrive at Vancouver Island RFC at 08.15 for an early morning transfer to Victoria, where they will board boats taking them on a whale-watching expedition. You will return at lunchtime and have lunch at leisure around the Inner Harbour. After lunch, you will return to Swartz Bay ferry terminal and prepare to board the ferry sailing at 15:00. Upon arrival at Tsawwassen ferry terminal, you will board coaches to Capilano RFC, where you will meet your new hosts. Coaches and parents will be transferred to their hotel in North Vancouver.

Day 7: Game vs. Capilano RFC and transfer to Whistler (optional)

Players, coaches and parents will arrive at 09.30 for a morning game against Capilano RFC. Lunch and refreshments will be provided at the club. You will then be transferred to a hotel in Whistler, where you will spend 3 nights on a bed & breakfast basis. The evening can be spent at leisure.

Alternatively, if the group is not interested in skiing or snowboarding, players will be billeted with their Capilano RFC hosts and coaches and parents will return to their hotel.

Those not going to Whistler will be transferred the next day to Vancouver for a final day of sightseeing and shopping before flying home.

 

 

54.8

Day 8 & 9: Skiing or snowboarding

The group will have two days free for skiing/boarding on Whistler/Blackcomb Mountain. Lunch facilities are available on the mountain. Both evenings are free to allow the group to explore the restaurants, lively bars and nightlife of the resort.
