Raise Money for Marie Curie Travelling Across the Stunning and Unique Namibian Desert Plains, Spotting Wildlife and Rugged Scenery Along the Way



Day 1: Arrival into Windhoek & Warm-Up Cycle

Upon arrival into Windhoek International Airport after your overnight flight, you will be met by one of our representatives, who will supply you with your mountain bikes. When ready you will set off on a warm-up cycle to your accommodation just outside the capital itself, River Crossing Lodge.

River Crossing Lodge is situated on a 6 500 ha game farm outside the city itself. Its 20 rooms and wellness spa are tastefully decorated and luxurious, ensuring a relaxing first evening surrounded by nature. The reserve boasts 19 species of large mammals, including sable antelope and giraffe, a rich birdlife and magnificent views of the Auas Mountains. Relax or go on a horse ride or game drive, with cheetah and leopard spotted from time to time.




Day 2: Cycle to Oanob Dam

This morning you will start your cycling trip, travelling 100km on good gravel to the Oanob Dam. On arrival you will set up camp and enjoy the rest of the afternoon relaxing or enjoying a swim in the river. In the evening enjoy a fireside dinner and camping under the stars.




Day 3: Sossuvlei Lodge, Sossuvlei

This morning you will drive to your accommodation near the famous Sossuvlei sand dune, Sossusvlei Lodge, with an 80km cycle to start the journey.

Situated adjacent to the oldest desert in the world, Sossusvlei Lodge is a luxurious, eco-friendly retreat blended cleverly with its desert surrounds. Comfortable and luxury air-conditioned lodges and a lovely pool will help you relax and recover after a hard day’s cycling and the lodge’s acacia-shaded beer garden is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a cold drink. The restaurant’s al fresco terrace enjoys a commanding view of a floodlit waterhole, frequented regularly by oryx, springbok, jackal, ground squirrel and hyena. Choose from guided trips up the Sossuvlei dune, hot air ballooning, quad biking, nature drives, sundowner trips, bush dinners, guided sunset walks, archery, stargazing and scenic flights whilst at the lodge.
