Day 1-4: Golf & Beach

Upon arrival at Durban Airport you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to your accommodation, Selborne Hotel, where you will spend 4 nights. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure, allowing you to relax and recover from the flight.

Over the next two days enjoy 2 rounds of golf at Selborne Golf Course & Wild Coast Sun, set in the heart of Mandela’s birthplace, the Transkei. Both afternoons will be spent at leisure, allowing you to relax at the hotel, visit the hotel’s private beach club or swim in the warm Indian Ocean. In the evenings, we can organise dinner at the hotel or a shuttle to take you to the city’s beachfront promenade, where there is a wide range of excellent restaurants and lively bars.

Day 4: Day Trip to Lesotho & the Drakensberg Mountains

In the morning you will be collected by your guide at the hotel and enjoy a beautiful, scenic drive inland towards the mighty Drakensberg Mountains. Once you reach Underberg, you will change vehicle into a 4×4 and make your way up the Sani Pass into Lesotho. Upon arrival at the summit, you will visit a local home and see how the Basutho people live in the highlands. Afterwards you will be taken to lunch at the highest pub in Africa before returning to Selborne Hotel in the early evening, where you can spend the evening at leisure.

The rooms are extremely comfortable and overlook the grounds and golf course of the estate, which support wild deer, monkeys and a diversity of birdlife. The hotel even has its own private beach, only a short walk away. The golf is of an extremely high standard, both because of the course and the warm reception and help provided by the staff, and Selborne has received ‘Complete Golfer’s Five-star Golf Experience Award’ of the overall experience enjoyed at the club.

Durban is predominantly a subtropical city influenced by the local Zulus and the British who colonised it in 1824.
