Day 1: Arrival at Lillehammer

On arrival in Oslo, after you have cleared customs, you will board the Norwegian State rail from Oslo Gardermoen Airport directly to Lillehammer, where you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred from the station to the Hotel Hunderfossen, your accommodation for the duration of the trip.

The hotel has 40 tastefully decorated rooms. It is characterised by its welcoming atmosphere and old Norwegian charm. The hotel has a bar, restaurant, exercise room, saunas, solarium and is within walking distance of the Lillehammer Olympic Bobsleigh track and the Snow Safari mountain routes. In the evening, you will be briefed by Tony Wallington, an Olympic medal winner and Performance Director for the British Bobsleigh Association. His enthusiasm and experience will bring to life the challenges that will be encountered the following day. Afterwards, dinner will be enjoyed at the hotel

Day 2: Bobsleighing, Bob-Skeleton & Tobogganing

After an early breakfast at the hotel, you will make your way to the Lillehammer Olympic Bobsleigh track, where you will enjoy exclusive access to the world-famous bob-sleigh run. The exhilarating track has 16 curves and is 1700 metres long; on the fastest curve, number 13, you should be pulling 5G or more! Afterwards, you will be able to try the Bob-Skeleton, a dynamic and challenging sport where you complete the bobsleigh course individually on a toboggan.

After lunch in the Olympic Park’s traditional Norwegian Laavu (the equivalent of a North American ‘Tipee’), you will be taken to the Olympic Park freestyle area to take part in one of Lillehammer’s most popular winter activities – tobogganing. Having been equipped with the necessary safety equipment, you will ride the specially adapted drag-lift up the mountain and descend the Olympic slopes as fast as you dare in preparation for the ‘Toboggan Slalom’. However, this is dependent on weather conditions. Afterwards, you will return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 3: Quad-Bike ‘Snow Safari’ and Return Transfer

After breakfast at the hotel, you will have be taken on a skidoo expedition (or quad bike depending on snow conditions). The 90-minute trail will provide you with the opportunity to see some of the natural beauty the area is famed for, whilst enjoying driving over challenging terrain. During the safari there will be a break at another traditional Norwegian Laavu for a brief stop to get warm by an open log fire. Lunch will be enjoyed at leisure. We would recommend Hotel Hunderfossen, which is famous locally for its ‘Smorgasbord’ style Sunday lunch, where you can experience Nordic cuisine from an expansive all-you-can-eat buffet of a wide choice of fish and meat, including gravalax and reindeer.

In the afternoon, you will be transferred from Hunderfossen Hotel to Lillehammer train station, where you will travel back to the airport. Alternatively, you may find time to extend your stay to enjoy the ski-slopes used in the 1994 Olympic Games.
